A friend keeps telling me to just go independent and mentioned a BMW Garage oil change as an option, but I've never used a non-dealer place before so I'm a bit hesitant. What I want to know is whether the savings are actually worth it, or if you end up paying for it later with missed checks or cheap filters. I'm not chasing the cheapest price in the emirates, just somewhere that uses the right stuff and doesn't treat a basic service like a treasure hunt for problems. If you've made the switch, did you notice any real difference in how the car runs or how you were treated? Also curious how long an independent oil change usually takes compared to the dealer, since I can't afford to leave the car all day.
